Solar Installation Day: What to Expect

Solar Installation Day: What to Expect - Image 1

You’ve wanted to have solar panels installed for quite some time. The day has finally come, you’re all excited but don’t know what to expect.

The solar installation part is the quickest step of the entire process. On average, it takes up to 2 days to install a solar system.

Moreover, we’d love to share a few things to expect on that day and how to be prepared for it.

1. Solar Installation Steps

- Step 1: The solar installers will start by doing another roof inspection to make sure that the shingles are safe to work on and panel-ready. They will remove any large debris such as tree branches...etc, which is to prepare the roof.

- Step 2: The solar installers will handle the electrical wiring, used to connect to your solar panels. In this step, they will also install the racking on your roof to support your solar panels and eventually place them.

- Step 3: They will mount the inverter, which allows your solar panels to convert energy generated through your solar system from DC (Direct current) to AC (Alternating current).

* For Ground-mounted solar systems: The solar installers would need to dig a trench to run the wiring from your solar panels to your home.

2. Get Ready for the Installation

- Between the solar crew walking and drilling on your roof, you will hear a lot of noise which is part of the process. Additionally, all holes will be sealed by the solar installers at the end of the installation.

- It would be necessary to make extra space in your driveway and yard for trucks, ladders, solar panels and any other tools to be used during the installation process.

- The solar installers would need access to your attic or crawl space and electrical panel

- Finally, it’s important for someone to be home in case of any issues/ questions and paperwork to be signed.

Overall, a solar installation is straightforward. Of course, the solar crew would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have during the installation process, so ask away! :-)

Once completed, they will explain everything you need to know about your solar system, including the application to monitor your solar panels.
